Qatar Charity hosts sponsored children participating in Street Child World Cup

At its headquarters in Doha, Qatar Charity (QC) hosted Sudan and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s teams participating in the ongoing Street Child World Cup (SCWC).

The teams are sponsored under QC’s global orphan care initiative ‘Rofaqa.’ Sudan's Minister of Social Development Ahmed Adam Bakheet, Sudan's ambassador Ahmed Abdel-Rahman Siwar al-Dahab, Bosnia and Herzegovina ambassador Abdulah Skaka, Street Child United founder and CEO John Wroe, and QC CEO Youssef al-Kuwari and other officials were present. “Today, you are part of a large family that includes 188,000 children from 40 countries, and hundreds of employees, who work here and around the world to enable you to have your right to education, health, food, and protection,” al-Kuwari told the children. He explained that the ‘Rofaqa’ initiative has achieved remarkable success by helping tens of thousands of children realise their dreams and aspirations. He stressed that the support will continuously be extended to the children whenever they need help. Al-Kuwari wished the teams of Sudan and Bosnia and Herzegovina success in the SCWC. He advised the children to focus on their studies and ambitions to build a better future for themselves, as well as for their families, communities, and countries. He thanked Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) for supporting the Sports for Development and Peace (SDP) initiative, John Wroe, Qatar Foundation where the SCWC is being held, and the supporters and sponsors in Qatar.Yousuf Abdulla al-Khulaifi, head of the Child Protection Section at QC, expressed his pride in the efforts of the two teams in preparing for the sporting event that convey their voices to the world through a meaningful educational and cultural experience.Wroe lauded QC's co-operation in the SCWC, its support for orphans and children around the world in various fields. He described the SCWC as a World Cup of joy, hope, and peace and said he looked forward to having more engagement with QC to bring children from other countries where it works, to the next edition in India.Speaking at the event, Mohamed al-Shazly Suleiman, a child from the Sudan team thanked the sponsors and QC, and urged them to continue their support for orphans. He indicated that he and his brother are sponsored by QC, which helps them continue their education and live in dignity.
