Julius Baer group announced the opening of their third Advisory Office in the Middle East in Doha, Qatar, after getting a licence from the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority.
The announcement of the opening of the office came during a press conference held on Wednesday at Qatar National Library, in the presence of the CEO of the Qatar Financial Centre Yousuf Mohamed al-Jaida, the ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the State of Qatar, Edgar Doerig, and CEO of Julius Baer Group Philipp Rickenbacher.
During the press conference, an agreement was also announced between the group and Qatar Foundation to support participation with social impact related to youth.
Head of the Middle East and Africa region at Julius Baer Group, Regis Burger, said, "The Middle East represents an important growth region for Julius Baer and is today a key pillar of the Bank's strategy.
The expansion into Qatar further demonstrates our ambition and long-term commitment to these markets.
Over many years, Qatar's story of growth has been impressive.
I am confident that, with our new Advisory Office in Doha under the leadership of Slim Bouker, we will be very well positioned to bring Julius Baer's value proposition to this esteemed market."
For his part, the CEO of Julius Baer in Qatar, Slim Bouker, said, "The country has leveraged its natural resources to build a competitive economy with strong global trade ties and robust infrastructure."
He added, "We see the emergence of a new generation of wealth in Qatar and we aim to use our expertise to the benefit of current and future generations of clients.
I am also very pleased to announce our partnership with Qatar Foundation's education initiative, WISE, which will focus on supporting community impact engagements relating to youth."
Slim Bouker noted that Julius Baer has a long-standing history of supporting local communities via arts and culture initiatives or using education as a tool to reduce wealth inequality.
The collaboration between Qatar Foundation and Julius Baer entails unlocking local learning ecosystems, supporting community development programmes, promoting local art and artist communities, and advancing opportunities for informal learning.
He pointed out that the partnership will be initially embodied through the upcoming activations including D'reesha Performing Arts Festival and Doha Learning Days during December 2022 and February 2023 respectively, bringing the community together through culture and education.
The Julius Baer Group is a Swiss group listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange operating in the wealth management sector, focusing its operations on providing services and consulting services to clients around the world.
The Group's efforts are based on its main objective of providing customers with value beyond physical wealth, and the value of assets under management amounted to CHF 457bn by the end of April 2022.
