His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met Thursday with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held in the Republic of Kazakhstan's capital Astana.
The meeting dealt with discussing bilateral relations in all fields, in addition to the latest developments of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its impact on global food security and energy markets. The Amir renewed Qatar's support to all international and regional efforts dedicated to finding an immediate peaceful resolution to the crisis.



In that regard, Qatar confirmed the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of countries and adhering to the UN Charter and the principles of international law, including the charter's commitments to resolving international conflicts peacefully.
The meeting dealt with developments in Libya and Syria, and negotiations with the US on the return to the Plan of Joint Action.
The meeting was attended by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif al-Sulaiti, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Thani, and a number of members of the official delegation.
It was attended on the Russian side by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Advisor to the President of Russia Yuri Ushakov, Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov and Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov.
