HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohamed bin Ali al-Mannai met the visiting Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha and the accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities and new areas of co-operation in the communications and information technology sector, and the exchange of expertise and experiences in this field.
The meeting also dealt with digital projects implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in preparation for Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and modern technologies used in the tournament, such as crowd management and communication services. The meeting touched on co-operation opportunities, where a number of agreements will be signed in the fields of communications, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, in the near future.
Saudi ambassador in Doha Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan al-Saud and a number of officials from the ministry attended the meeting. HE al-Mannai accompanied his Saudi counterpart on a tour of a number of the ministry's modern technological centres and facilities along with the ambassador. The Saudi minister was briefed on the nature of the work of the TASMU Innovation Lab, Mada Assistive Technology Centre Qatar, and the Government Contact Centre.
At Mada, he was acquainted with the work of the centre, which was established in 2010 as an initiative to consolidate the meanings of digital inclusion and build an accessible technological community for people with functional limitations, people with disabilities, and the elderly. The centre works through strategic partnerships to empower the education sector, ensuring a comprehensive education system, and the culture and society sectors to become more inclusive through communications and information technology.
The Saudi minister was also briefed on the innovation lab's goal in raising Qatar's position as a centre for technological innovation.
