Team Portugal wins IDC-Q football tournament

Indian Sports Centre president Dr Mohan Thomas, along with Dr Sameer Moopen, Dr Sameer Kalandan and other advisory committee members graced the occasion.
As part of its FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 celebrations, the Indian Doctors Club of Qatar (IDC-Q) held a football tournament among its members at West Green Spine football grounds near Qatar Foundation's Education City Stadium. Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal was the chief guest.
Indian Sports Centre president Dr Mohan Thomas, along with Dr Sameer Moopen, Dr Sameer Kalandan and other advisory committee members graced the occasion. Team Argentina was led by Dr Anwar Mohammed, Team Brazil by Dr Anoj Cherian, Team Portugal by Dr Maktoum Azeez and Team Qatar by Dr Saibu George, in their respective national jerseys. Team Portugal emerged champions after a 1-0 hard fought win against Team Qatar. Ashif was the referee. Hazem Maktoum won the best player of the tournament. On the sidelines a penalty shoot-out for the Ladies and the kids were conducted. Hazem Azeez, Johann Cherian George, Ethan George, Sharmin Sameer and Suhaan Nadeer were the standout young talents. IDC-Q sports secretary Dr Ketaki Mannur and her team organised the event and presided over the prize distribution function. President Dr Biju Gafoor welcomed the gathering. Ambassador Mittal presented the trophy to the winners.Dr Thomas, himself a university football player, congratulated the players and presented them with medals. IDC-Q general secretary Dr Saibu George, in his vote of thanks thanked QF and the sponsors - Tea Time – Qatar and Safari Mall.
