University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) and Qatar Shell Research and Technology Centre (QSRTC) signed an agreement to support students of the College of Engineering at the University in their graduation projects.

The agreement, signed by UDST's Vice President for Academic Affairs Rachid Benlamri, and the Vice President of Qatar Shell Research and Technology Centre, which establishes a joint strategy to help students identify their appropriate graduation projects, obtain industry information throughout the project period, and provide them with many opportunities to strengthen their work and arm them with new skills and abilities.



In this context, an engineer from Qatar Shell company will be appointed to guide the students, provide comments and observations, help in finding adequate resources, and complete all the requirements for their projects, including documentation, software, training and equipment acquisition, while Doha University of Science and Technology will provide technical supervision and the required space for these projects, in addition to providing support in preparing reports, manufacturing prototypes and testing.

UDST President Dr. Salem Al Naemi said that practical education leads to academic excellence, adding that UDST students learn by applying the knowledge they have gained in their real life, and this kind of learning can only be achieved with the support of partners from various industries, explaining that Shell Qatar is one of UDST old partners who has been helping it for years to guide ambitious young minds, expressing his pleasure that both parties are participating in this initiative and looking forward to impressive results.

For her part, the Vice President of Qatar Shell Research and Technology Centre said that Shell Qatar is an active supporter of Qatar's journey towards a knowledge-based economy, expressing pride in sharing the company's skills and expertise with future leaders in Qatar, so that they can continue to innovate tomorrow's technologies and meet the challenges that await everyone.

She stressed that the partnership with University of Doha for Science and Technology in this initiative will help provide students with some of the tools they need to benefit from the technical and economic development in Qatar.
