HIA sees 74.4% rise in passengers in September

Hamad International Airport (HIA) recorded an annual increase of 74.4% in the number of passengers in September this year, according to latest statistics issued by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).Aircraft movement also increased in the said period."Preliminary air transport statistics for the month of September 2022 indicate an increase in aircraft movement at Hamad International Airport by 13.6% compared to the same month last year," the authority said in a statement on social media on Sunday. "The number of passengers also increased by 74.4% compared to September 2021."HIA saw 17,660 aircraft movements in September 2022, while in 2021 the corresponding figure was 15,551. Regarding passengers, the number went up from 1,819,250 in September 2021 to 3,172,062 in the same month this year, CAA statistics show.Meanwhile, air freight and mail showed a decline of 12.6% compared to the same month in 2021, the CAA added.
