The internal security force Lekhwiya has signed a co-operation agreement with Hamad Medical Corp (HMC), to establish a training centre for Lekhwiya medical personnel in accordance with the highest standards of medical training in the world.
The agreement was signed by Lekhwiya's Director of Medical Services Department Capt Eng Abdullah al-Shuraim, and HMC's Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Director of the Medical Education Department Dr Abdullatif Mohamed al-Khal.
In a statement, Capt Eng al-Shuraim said that the establishment of a medical training centre will contribute to the training of medical personnel and their support staff, in accordance with the best international standards, which supports improving the quality of medical service.
He praised HMC's prominent role in healthcare from which Lekhwiya's Medical Services can strongly benefit, and confirmed that Lekhwiya is strongly seeking to establish a medical training centre under the supervision of Hamad International Training Centre to benefit from their experience.
Dr al-Khal said that one of the priorities of the Medical Education Department at HMC is to support and develop the workforce in the health sector in Qatar to achieve the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 in this area, and to support the National Health Strategy.
Dr al-Khal pointed out that the establishment of a branch of the Hamad International Training Centre in Lekhwiya as a first stage will greatly contribute to enhancing co-operation between the two sides, affirming that this agreement is the beginning of a partnership for a long and fruitful strategic co-operation that will strongly enhance the quality of medical services.
He reiterated that the branch of Hamad International Training Centre in Lekhwiya's Medical Services is the fourth branch outside HMC, after the branches of the Ministry of Interior, QatarEnergy and the Ministry of Defence, which aims to develop medical training according to unified standards and to improve services provided to all citizens and residents of the state.
