AAB joined DEAP for this campaign as its way to kickstart QSW 2022. More than 200 volunteers from the community, including AAB volunteer employees and personnel from the Ministry of Municipality, pledged their support to keep Qatar clean by taking part in this sustainable programme. The collective amount of plastic trash from the sand dunes during the cleanup weighed approximately 600kg.
“It was an incredible start of our Qatar Sustainability Week activities. We would like to thank AAB for leading by example and supporting our efforts to raise environmental awareness,” said Jose Saucedo, DEAP director.
AAB is the mobility solution provider to DEAP by providing the pick-ups for the carriage of the polluted waste during the cleanups and transportation support for the communities who participate in the joint sustainable programmes of both organisations.
A volunteering organisation leading the fight against plastic pollution and the beach cleanup movement in Qatar, DEAP has continuously brought together volunteers and representatives from various communities and institutions, collecting waste from different locations.
AAB is fully committed to giving back to the community through community initiatives, with one of its major pillars focusing on environmental stewardship. The company has worked with DEAP as a strategic partner for the past two years, sharing a common vision and mission to keep Qatar clean for future generations, a press statement notes. "With DEAP as its partner in taking concrete steps to protect and care for the environment, AAB fulfils its dedication to contribute towards Qatar National Vision 2030 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focusing on 'Life on Land'.”
Qatar Sustainability Week is a National Campaign that aims to engage the community in a wide range of sustainability-oriented activities, raising awareness and showcasing the progress Qatar has made in the areas of sustainability. AAB has conducted several sustainable programmes in line with QSW 2022.
