QU ranks second in QS Arab Region University Rankings 2023

For the second consecutive year, Qatar University (QU) has ranked second in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Arab Region University Rankings 2023. Since 2018, QU has gained five places.QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham was presented with an award during a ceremony organised by Quacquarelli Symonds in Dubai, the UAE. He said, “It is a great pleasure and honour to be a recipient of the award and to be ranked second for the second consecutive year. This ranking recognises the incredible strides Qatar University has made, and represents the culmination of the tremendous efforts made to position the university as a leader in higher education and research, supported by a strong international research network, prestigious programmes and commitment to excellence and the highest standards of quality and professionalism.”Dr al-Derham added, “I would like to commend our faculty, employees and students for their hard work that led to such recognition. Also, the unlimited support from the Board of Regents and the government is an important component of making such strides.”The QS Arab Region University Rankings 2023 have been published since 2014. The method retains key indicators of the global ranking, such as Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, and Faculty to Student Ratio, but also considers a set of performance metrics carefully tailored for the region.This ranking consolidates QU’s recent achievement in the QS World University Ranking as the institution moved from 224 in 2022 to 208 in the 2023 edition, effectively improving 16 places.
