Umm Al Seneem Park will be inaugurated next month with the "longest air-conditioned pathways", which are expected to set a Guinness World Record, according to a report in local Arabic daily Arrayah.
The Buildings Projects Department at the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is giving final touches to the construction works, the daily said.
The park will have air-conditioned pathways with a length of 1,437m. It is being implemented by Ashghal in co-ordination with the Ministry of Municipality.
Umm Al Seneem Park is spread over 130,105sqm and includes various facilities that can cater to up to 3,000 visitors a day. The park is planned to include around 88,400sqm of green spaces and 800 trees, in addition to walking and cycling tracks measuring around 1,135m, besides 247 parking lots for vehicles.
The park has two kids' play areas and also takes into consideration the needs of children with special needs, providing them with adequate facilities for recreation and comfort.
The park has been designed to provide a social, environmental and recreational option to visitors and is expected to be highly popular among inhabitants of the surrounding areas as well as others. Plants and trees can be found across the park, which will help reduce the temperature, while the green area will account for 68% of the total space.
To encourage exercise and enhance physical activity, sports equipment have been provided in three different areas for males and females, with privacy ensured for women in outdoor sports. Also, there are pedestrian and bicycle paths suitable for all ages.
