Qatar Charity (QC) honoured the winning youth volunteer initiatives of the third season of its ‘Initiatives Challenge’ programme, which was implemented during the holy month of Ramadan to promote Qatar Charity's humanitarian projects in new and innovative ways.
The winners were recognised in appreciation of their efforts and role in supporting these projects.
At the ceremony, prizes, certificates of appreciation and honorary shields were distributed to the winning youth initiatives, in addition to honouring other participating initiatives and judges.
‘Future Compass’, ‘Shabab 22’ and ‘O Type’ were the first, second and third winners, respectively, of the programme.
Speaking at the ceremony, Faisal al-Fehaida, CEO’s Assistant for the Programmes and Community Development Sector at QC, congratulated the volunteers of the winning teams, expressing Qatar Charity's pride in their outstanding voluntary efforts in community service in several important areas. He also thanked the judges for their efforts in evaluating the initiatives' activities according to specific professional and methodological standards.
He said the programme stems from Qatar Charity’s interest in supporting youth volunteer initiatives, promoting the culture of volunteering among the community, encouraging young people to take initiative and contribute to community service, paying attention to humanitarian issues, and helping those who are in need.
The director of Qatar Voluntary Centre Moaidh al-Qahtani, who was a judge of the programme, said the participating teams were distinguished by co-operation and worked with team spirit to provide humanitarian and voluntary work.
The winners expressed happiness with the honour, considering it as an incentive for them to make more efforts in community service. Eman al-Obaide, founder of the ‘Future Compass’ initiative that won the first place in the programme, said she is happy with this win and considered the ‘Initiatives Challenge’ programme as one of the platforms that help youth initiatives implement projects that contribute to community development and build the community work system in the country.
Musaed Sultan Abdullah, founder of the ‘Shabab 22’ initiative, which won second place, said the honour encourages the participants to make more efforts to serve the community.
Hanan Abu al-Hussein from the ‘O Type’ initiative that won the third place, expressed happiness with the win, thanking Qatar Charity for supporting youth initiatives.
The ‘Initiatives Challenge’ programme is a voluntary humanitarian competition between several initiatives in implementing community programmes innovatively
during Ramadan within the fields of work of Qatar Charity. At the end of the programme, the results are evaluated according to a set of criteria to select the best three initiatives as winners.
