Qatar’s embassies continue events to promote Qatar 2022
A number of Qatar’s diplomatic missions abroad are continuing their events to promote the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.• Qatar’s embassy in Algeria organised a campaign, which kicked off from the Headquarters of the Presidency of Algeria, with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune briefed by Qatar’s ambassador to Algeria Abdelaziz Ali al-Naama on Qatar’s preparations to host the major international sporting event.As part of the campaign, the embassy held more than 10 exhibitions in various places in Algiers and Oran, including hotels, shopping centres and public squares, with participation of Qatar and Algerian government institutions.During the events, ambassador al-Naama spoke to members of the Algerian and international media, participants and visitors, about Qatar’s preparations to host the World Cup, and the importance of football’s role in peoples’ lives.• In Seoul, Qatar’s embassy to Korea participated in the 15th Arab Culture Festival, which highlighted the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.Under the auspices of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the festival dedicated an entire pavilion to the tournament.The pavilion is organised annually by the Korea-Arab Friendship Association and the Korea International Trade Association under the auspices of the Korean ministry of foreign affairs.The pavilion displayed detailed information in Korean about the World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums, the host cities and the tournament programme, as well as the tourist attractions in Qatar.Qatar’s ambassador to Korea Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Hamar gave a welcoming speech at the festival, highlighting Qatar’s efforts to organise the tournament.The pavilion was visited by the ambassadors of Arab countries and heads of diplomatic missions whose teams qualified for the international tournament, and it received media coverage by Korean media.Visited by thousands of Koreans and other visitors, the Arab Culture Festival is one of the most important activities through which the Korean people learned about Arab culture and heritage.The Qatar embassy also organised a football tournament, in co-operation with the Organisation of Francophone States in Korea.Diplomats and employees of foreign missions of the Organisation of Francophone States participated in the tournament, and ambassador al-Hamar awarded prizes to the winning teams at the end of the tournament.• In Kathmandu, Qatar’s ambassador to Nepal, Yousuf bin Mohamed al-Hail held a ceremony to mark the start of the countdown to Qatar 2022.The ceremony was attended by Napal Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal, heads of accredited Arab missions, members of foreign embassies accredited to Nepal, a number of undersecretaries of the Nepal’s ministries of sports, tourism, culture and labour, officials of the National Sports Council, the Olympic Committee, the Nepal Football Association and sports stars, officials from UN agencies, the private sector, and representatives of the media.In his speech, ambassador al-Hail welcomed the guests and expressed his thanks and appreciation for the Nepal government’s co-operation in the field of employment, and praised the role of Nepalese workers and their participation in the construction of Qatar’s infrastructure and facilities for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.m The Qatar embassy in Azerbaijan organised a special pavilion to promote the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, on the sidelines of a charity exhibition that was organised by the Azerbaijan ministry of foreign affairs in co-operation with the UN offices in Azerbaijan, as part of the campaign to promote the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.The promotion included a visual display of the World Cup stadiums hosting the tournament and an opportunity for the public to purchase tournament products at symbolic prices, with the revenue going to charitable causes.One of the official songs of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 was also showcased.
