The objective of the Watan exercise, which lasted for five days, is to enhance the role of the concerned authorities while carrying out their regular and additional tasks during the tournament, to measure the speed of response to emergency events, and to activate the command and control mechanism and joint co-operation between the military and civil authorities in order to achieve the integration of roles and the implementation of the required tasks, in addition to strengthening close co-operation and exchanging expertise and experiences with the forces participating in the exercise from brotherly and friendly countries. Watan security exercise is the largest of its kind in terms of the number of military and civilian authorities participating in it, in addition to the diversity of its scenarios based on the types of risks and potential challenges during the tournament.
The Ministry of Defence participated in Watan exercise organised by the Security Committee for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and concluded its work on Thursday with the participation of various military, civil and organisational institutions involved in hosting the tournament, and a number of forces of brotherly and friendly countries.
