Work on planting green spaces and trees along 11 interchanges on Al Majd Road has been completed as part of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar's plan to beautify various areas in the country, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced.
Mohamed al-Khaldi, chairman of the committee, said: "Beautifying Al Majd Road complements our efforts to enhance roads’ aesthetic appeal in conjunction with Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup, which is an environmental legacy that protects the environment and its natural balance."
Jassim Fakhroo, project manager at the committee, explained that 11 interchanges on Al Majd Road were beautified. This included creating a vast area of green spaces and planting of 3,575 local trees and other plants that can withstand the Qatari environment. These were planted in order to create a healthy and sustainable environment
Hessa al-Kaabi, project design manager, added: "I was keen to choose trees of a large size to match the design of the project, which depends on planting trees at a gradual height - from top to bottom - with the addition of gravel, to contribute to adding an aesthetic element to the intersections."
