The General Directorate of Traffic has urged commuters to use alternative roads to avoid traffic congestion during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and properly plan the daily commuting during the event taking note of the possible traffic jams.
In an awareness video, Brig Dr Mohamed Radi al-Hajri, director of the Traffic Awareness Department at the General Traffic Department, said it is normal to experience traffic jams and congestion during the tournament. Traffic officials will be available to deal with the congestion. Brig al-Hajiri recommended the use of public transportation including Doha Metro, Msheireb and Lusail trams, which will be available to residents and visitors alike during the World Cup.
