Qatar, Morocco conclude first round of FTA negotiations

The Moroccan capital Rabat hosted the first round of the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Qatar and Morocco.The director of International Co-operation and Trade Agreements Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Saleh Abdullah al-Mana headed the Qatari delegation, while the director general of Trade at the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade Abdelouahed Rahal represented the Moroccan side.In a statement yesterday, the MoCI indicated that such negotiations come within the framework of the keenness to promote the bilateral cooperation between Qatar Morocco at all levels, especially with respect to the economic, trade and investment aspects.During the meeting, the two sides underscored the importance of striking the deal and the role through which it will contribute to serving the joint interests and solidifying the bilateral partnership ties in fulfilling the aspirations of the two sisterly countries.The primary project of the free trade agreement between the two countries included boosting co-operation in the field of trade in goods, trade in services, investment and intellectual property, competition and dispute settlement.At the conclusion of the negotiations, the minutes of meeting for the first round was signed, in addition to the concurrence with holding the second round of the negotiations for an FTA between the two countries in Doha.
